LIMITED EDITION: OASIS: A very limited edition, Honduran honey-processed coffee

Honduran Honey Processed Coffee - medium-light roast - Fall 2020

I love Central American coffees!

And also love the juicy, heavy body and sweetness of honey processed coffee. So when we had a chance to nab a share of this small batch of beans - a microshare of a microlot - of honey processed Honduran coffee - we jumped right on it!

OASIS features a fairtrade, organic, honey processed coffee from the La Paz region of Honduras. The taste is sweet and the mouthfeel is heavy and a bit syrupy.

What’s it taste like? I think of plums or dried cranberries (a bit tart, a bit sweet).

Honduran Honey

All the coffees that go into Sparkplug coffees are premium, directly traded, high quality Arabica beans. And the coffee that goes into OASIS is particularly special.

Grown on a farm that has been owned by the same family for at least 3 generations. Their coffee production is pretty small. And of that, a portion of the last harvest was set aside for honey processing. So only a very small amount of this particular bean was in existence. We tasted a sample and fell in love! And were so lucky that we could get our hands on some of it. We THINK it’ll be around for about a month (we usually keep our seasonal coffees for about 6 weeks) but can’t promise! When we sell out, we can’t get any more….

p.s. there is no honey added - but you may think there has been because of its syrupy sweetness that results from the way the coffee beans are treated.

Want to know more about what honey processing is and why it’s called that? Here you go: Hey Honey! from our blog.

RECOMMENDED BREWING METHODS:

OASIS seasonal coffee is roasted on the lighter side of medium and is amazing made with any filter coffee maker (auto drip, pour over, Chemex, Melitta, Hario…) and, of course, works very, very nicely in an Aeropress. If you want to get super fancy, use a siphon coffee maker.
