Mad Bastard Seasonal Coffee will fuel all your summer adventures

inspired by the crazy fun riders of the 2019 Mad Bastard Scooter Rally

Premium South American coffees crafted to be delicious brewed hot or cold!

It was 6:50AM on June 22, 2019. Team Sparkplug was set up by the Mississauga River in Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park, waiting for the first of the Mad Bastard Scooter Rally riders to come rolling in to Sparkplug Coffee Checkpoint #1. And arrive they did.

These crazy scooterists, dressed in fun costumes, set out from Peterborough, Ontario starting at 4:30AM on the endurance adventure that is the Mad Bastard Scooter Rally. Their goal: to ride over 500km (600+ with the bonus loop) while finding clues, solving puzzles, and finding their way back to Rally HQ before 24 hours was up.

What coffee to bring to fuel these mad adventures? The Mad Bastard blend, of course!

We crafted a blend of premium Arabica beans from Colombia and Brazil, roasted them to the perfect medium level. We name this blend the Mad Bastard Seasonal Coffee in honour of the rally. And we brewed it up cold to make it extra refreshing and easy to quaff for the riders when they checked in at the two Sparkplug Coffee checkpoints.

You may know that the Sparkplug Coffee name was inspired by Kara’s vintage Vespa. As a longtime scooterist and Vespa enthusiast, she had been aware of the Mad Bastard Scooter Rally for many years. Yet she didn’t participate until MBSR 2015. That year, Kara rode her 1979 Vespa with Joe on his 1983 Yamaha Riva. For the next two rallies, Joe rode (now on his 2007 Vespa) and Kara participated as a sponsor, with Sparkplug Checkpoints at two spots on route.

2019 was the final Mad Bastard Scooter Rally. But not the final scooter adventures for most of these riders. Get their coffee while you can. And let us know how it’s fuelling your summer adventures!
