Recipes

for COFFEE SPICED BEEF BURGERS:

  • form medium ground beef into patties about 4"/10cm in diameter & 1/2"/1cm thick

  • sprinkle 1 tsp of Coffee Spice Rub on one side of each patty

  • grill spice side down for about 4 minutes until slightly charred, flip and cook another 4 minutes

for COFFEE SPICED MUSHROOM BURGERS:

  • place large portobello mushroom caps into a ziplock bag, add some olive oil and 1 tsp of Coffee Spice Rub for each mushroom cap. Shake bag and let mushrooms marinate for 20-30 minutes

  • grill 3-4 minutes per side

Make Your Burger:

  • Place patty or mushroom on bun and add your fave condiments.

  • We like BBQ sauce, sliced tomatoes, lettuce & a slice of cheddar but you do you.

Coffee Spice Rub FAQs:

  • What is in the Coffee Spice Rub?

    • The INGREDIENTS are: ground Sparkplug coffee, brown sugar, black pepper, salt, coriander, oregano.

  • How do I use the Coffee Spice Rub?

    • My favourite thing is to rub about 1 teaspoon (5 ml) on the outside of a burger before grilling or frying the patty. You can also mix some spice rub in with the ground beef.

    • You can also use the Coffee Spice Rub on steak, chicken, mushrooms (yum! portobello mushroom burgers!) or pork. I keep meaning to try it on halloumi, I bet that is delicious!

  • BBQ with Coffee? Really?

    • Yes, really! The coffee adds a subtle smokiness and depth to this rub. Don’t worry about the caffeine, unless you eat the whole packet by yourself (which would be weird) there isn’t enough coffee per serving that most people would notice its effects.
