Coffee Worth Making a Fuss About

Featuring the Fuss Studio Blend Coffee

Summertime - time for a new 'do and a new feature coffee. And we're super stoked to be featuring the Fuss Studio blend

We created the Fuss Studio Blend for our fave local salon and early Sparkplug Coffee customer, Fuss Hair Studio to brew up in the salon.

Now you can get that Fuss coffee deliciousness at home in between new 'dos.

Buy Fuss Studio Blend, Make A Difference

We're donating a portion of sales of the Fuss Studio Blend coffee to the Toronto Humane Society, picked because the Fuss crew are big pet lovers and the THS provides such a valuable service.

Buy some coffee and help a dog, cat or bunny - what a sweet deal!

My order is on Autopilot - how do I make an adjustment?

How do I adjust a coffee order?

Knut, one of our loyal Sparkplug Coffee customers, emailed:

I don't see a place on the website where I can go in and adjust my shipping date. Can you move up the next shipment by a week?

No problem! Anytime you need a coffee subscription order changed - the date shifted forward or back, an extra order, skip an order, we can do it. Just call or email Kara and she'll take care of it.

Is there a DIY option?

You can update your contact info or payment method, so long as you've created an account in the Sparkplug Coffee store. Just use this link to login to your account and make the changes:

https://sparkplugcoffee.foxycart.com/cart?cart=updateinfo

Other DIY options are to cancel a coffee subscription or transfer it to someone else. These options are available from the personalized link contained in your emailed coffee order receipt.

For any other changes, just give us a call or send an email and we'll get it done. Easy peasy!

Corktown Toronto - Sparkplug Coffee HQ

Our home base

Although Sparkplug Coffee does not have a storefront and is a virtual / online business, we are proud to say that Corktown Toronto is our home base!

Buy Coffee & Support Corktown

Until the end of the PanAm & Para PanAm Games, 5% of net sales from any coffee purchase delivered to a Corktown Toronto will be donated to the Corktown Residents & Business Association.

We'll tally up all the Corktown & area sales up to August 15, 2015 and cut a cheque to the CRBA to help it with its excellent community activities. And for Corktowners who sign up to get coffee on autopilot - delivered every 2 weeks, 3 weeks or monthly - we'll continue the donation to the CRBA for all of 2015. Click this article's header for more info or visit the Corktown 2015 info page.

We Survived the Mad Bastard!

We Survived the Mad Bastard!

Our Mad Bastard adventure:

Held every 2 years, the  Mad Bastard Scooter Rally is a one-day adventure that takes participants on a circle route covering about 650 km. This year Rally HQ was in Guelph, an easy 100 km scoot from Toronto on side roads and country highways.

Joe & Kara scootered up to Guelph on Friday afternoon. Checked in, had dinner with the rest of the group, went through the Rider Meeting to learn all about the route and plan for the next day. Hmmm... 640 km with a bunch of photo challenges and some trivia questions to answer en route. Seems doable.

24 hours later, when we were not even half-way through the route, we weren't quite so sure....

Viva la coffee revolution!

El Libertador Feature Coffee

Viva la coffee revolution! Liberate your taste!

Cinco de Mayo seems like the perfect day to introduce our newest feature blend.

El Libertador is named for Símon Bolívar, El Libertador (The Liberator) who led the South American fight for independence from the Spanish. Our special blend brings together delicious organic fairtrade coffees from Peru and Bolivia with coffees from Gran Colombia, Bolívar’s short-lived republic.

Roasted medium-dark, El Libertador shows characteristics we love about South American coffees. Semi-sweet chocolate, smooth, rich and full-bodied. Delicious on its own or as a cafe con leche, with a bit of milk for added sweetness.

There is a limited supply of this delicious blend, click here to give it a try and join the coffee revolution!

Did you know that Bolivia used to part of Peru? It became an independent country under Símon Bolívar, who was asked to be its first head of state but turned that down. The new country was named after Bolívar anyway.

International Female Ride Day 2015

International Female Ride Day 2015

The first Saturday in May is International Female Ride Day (IFRD) and this year Sparkplug Coffee was there with fresh coffee - courtesy of KYMCO Canada & Studio Cycle Group - to rev people up before heading out on the ride around Toronto.

Kara and friend Sandy were able to join the ride while Joe & June from Team Sparkplug Coffee packed up the coffee supplies. Thanks June & Joe! You rock! And thanks Motoress Vicki Gray for starting IFRD - what a great idea! And especially big thanks to Cecilia for organizing this year's Toronto Female Ride Day!

Here's a link to the IFRD website that explains how the purpose of IFRD is for women to get out on their motorcycles and scooters and "Just Ride!" to show how fun it is and to encourage other women to try it out.

Is it OK to reboil my kettle?

Is it OK to reboil my kettle?

Is it OK to reboil water... or do I need to refill and start fresh with cold water each time?

At a recent coffee class, Meghan asked about reboiling water and if it is OK to reheat a still warm kettle. Good question!  Read on for the answer... (note that the link is ABOVE this intro - yes, that seems wrong to me, too!)

Brew A Great Cup Every Time coffee class #1

What fun! 10 people signed up for the first ever session of our Brew A Great Cup Every Time coffee class and 12 people showed up! Including a lovely and patient 5 year old who sampled the double chocolate banana bread but didn't partake of the coffees.

We made coffee using a pourover AKA cone filter or dripper, French press, then the AeroPress 3 ways. And sampled coffee made with the Espro press at the end. The coffees were all tasty. I remembered almost all the tips I wanted to share. The feedback forms say that everyone learned something new and enjoyed themselves. 100% would recommend this to other coffee lovers so we may make this a regular thing. I also learned some helpful tips for making future sessions run more smoothly. Overall, a great success!

Thank you to The Healthy Road for donating the lovely kitchen space! And thanks to all you coffee lovers who joined me for this session!
