Brew It Yourself - Aeropress Secret Tip
Turns out you can teach an old dog a new trick.
After 10 years of Aeropress use, I've learned a nice technique for an even better, easier coffee from the AeroPress.
Vacuum Sealed
Start your AeroPress as usual - set it up above your mug, add ground coffee, add hot water, give it a stir and THEN...
Insert the plunger on an angle, straighten it out and pull it back a little bit to create a vacuum in the chamber.
The vacuum created will stop the coffee from dripping through the filter while you let it steep for 20, 30, 60, 90 seconds - however long you'd like. 20 - 30 seconds is still the recommended time but feel free to experiment and adjust to taste.
When you're ready to press, the vacuum creates a nice, even and smooth pressurized airlock to push the coffee through the filter.
If the rubber gasket is touching the coffee, you didn't create a good vacuum. Practice makes perfect, you'll get it next time!
