Lighter Roast Costa Rican Honey Processed Coffee

What does Paradise taste like?

Coffee (of course!) with a side of toast & peach jam. Yum!

This PARADISE is sourced from Don Eli Coffee, a 5th generation family-owned coffee business in Terrazu county, a couple hours south of San Jose, Costa Rica.

This family is special - not only do they farm the coffee, they own their own micro-mill so that they can process the coffee and control the quality from planting the seeds to shipping the green beans to us in Canada. This allows them to experiment with different methods of treating the coffee cherries and they have been particularly successful with the honey process.

I seek out variety when choosing a new seasonal coffee. Obviously, premium quality Arabica coffee is the basic criteria. Beyond that, I look for a coffee country or region we haven’t visited in a while and for a variety of styles. Sometimes a lighter, fruitier coffee. Sometimes a richer, heavier earthy or chocolatey coffee.

I try and give you some variety in roast levels, too - mostly medium or lighter roasts that show off the subtleties of the beans but sometimes a darker, smokier, bolder, earthier coffee.

Despite that, this time we are back in Central America with another honey processed coffee.

I just love these coffees so much! And, from what you told me about Oasis (our seasonal coffee back in October / November), you love them, too!

Costa Rican coffee farmers pretty much invented - and perfected - the honey process method. (Processing means removing the fruit or pulp from a coffee cherry to get to the seed - also known as the coffee bean. Click here for a short article on coffee processes and where Honey Processing fits in.)

Paradise is here for a good time, not a long time, so get it while you can.

This will be the last honey processed coffee for a while. And probably the last time our seasonal coffee will take us to Costa Rica this year, too.

So if you’re a fan of sweet, juicy, jammy, lovely Central American coffees, get a cup of Paradise ASAP.

p.s. there is no honey added - but you may think there has been because of its syrupy sweetness that results from the way the coffee beans are treated.

I love this silly juggling beehive gif - so cute!

RECOMMENDED BREWING METHODS:

PARADISE is a lighter roast coffee. We love it most made with any filter coffee maker (auto drip, pour over, Chemex, Melitta, Hario…) and, of course, we love it in an in an Aeropress. Like any coffee, it can be used in any coffeemaker. If you’re a milk & sugar person, I recommend going light on the cream - a little goes a long way with this coffee.
