Luring You to Lacombe, Alberta
When the Len Thompson fishing lure company in Lacombe, Alberta wanted to celebrate their 90th anniversary, they wanted to do something BIG.
Crafting the World's Largest Fishing Lure seemed appropriate. Outshining the previous record holder in Texas, this lure is GUINNESS WORLD RECORD CERTIFIED at nearly 25 ft longer than the previous record.
One glance at this beauty - 40.5 feet / 12.3 m long with an 8 foot / 2.5 m hook and 9.5 foot / 3 m spoon, and you’ll be reeled in for a closer look.

The [giant fishing lure] is located at the Len Thompson Pond, situated at the end of Len Thompson Drive and easily visible from Highway 2A. Managed by the Lacombe Fish and Game Association, the pond’s waters are stocked annually with rainbow trout providing accessible fishing opportunities for locals and visitors of all ages. The lure was officially unveiled to the public on the annual “Kids Can Catch Fishing Day” which took place on Saturday, June 1, 2019.
Lacombe is about halfway between Calgary and Edmonton, just a little north of Red Deer, on Highway 2A. In addition to fishing and hiking and outdoors activities, Lacombe has an historic downtown with plenty of indie shops (including an award winning brewery) and several museums.
