Hey guys, The thing that I was most afraid of with the roadside attraction coffees has come to pass; I have found a coffee that I am 100% in love with, and in a week I cannot have any more. Drumheller is fantastic. I am usually very anti-‘just black’ coffee, adding enough sugar and cream to my cups to make each one part milkshake. And Drumheller is the first coffee I’ve found that is not bitter to the taste black, and pleasant for me to drink. It has in some ways changed coffee drinking for me. And now you’re getting rid of it? Killing me, guys. Would you reconsider? Or at least tell me what the best way of getting my hands on more of this coffee after you guys stop carrying it is? I don’t want my new favorite coffee gone forever. Thank you!

Hi Patrick,

I’m so delighted that you love Drumheller! And sorry for disappointing you by retiring it.

The thing with the Roadside Attraction coffees is that we’re sourcing special coffees that are in limited supply. Often they are microlots from small farms or coops and the amount of coffee they produce is small. And when it’s gone, it’s gone - for at least a year until the next crop is harvested. And, a crazy thing, next year the crop may taste quite different! So even if we wanted to keep carrying the Drumheller, we can’t.

Usually I tell people to buy just what you need for the next few weeks and drink it up. But in this case, I recommend that you stock up on Drumheller now so you have a supply for a few months.

Coffee is at its peak flavour in the first couple months after roasting and will gradually stale after that. As long as it is whole bean (not pre-ground) and properly stored (in the sealed coffee bags at room temperature) the coffee will still taste great for 6 or more months.

I see you have tried most of our coffees in the Taster Packs and have gravitated to Road Trip and Kick Start. What did you think of Deuce Coupe? It has some similar characteristics to the Drumheller. Could be a good substitute once you’ve drunk up your Drumheller supply? And I’ll let you know when we have a new coffee that is similar - or we bring back this recipe when a new crop is in.
